Christmas: Jos Based NGO Distributes 10,000 Clothes, Rice/ Maize to IDPs In Mangu LGA Of Plateau.

The Platform Foundation, a Jos based NGO has distributed 10,000 clothing, Maize and Rice to Internally Displaced Person’s (IDPs) in Mangu LGA in Plateau state.

The Director of the NGO, Alex Ntino in his address at the event which was witnessed by thousands of people from the state said the Clothes Fair, relief distribution, and Nourishment Gala at the Mangu IDP Camp was meant to provide clothes, Grains, and nourishment to the IDPs, as well as to express their solidarity and compassion with the IDPs.

The Director of The Platform Foundation who welcomed everyone to the event, thanked the sponsors for their generous support.

He highlighted the importance of sharing the love and care that they have received from others, and the need to uphold the dignity and rights of every individual in the society.

Ntino stressed that the gifts given to the IDPs were not the most important thing, but rather a symbol that people around the world care about them and are praying for them.

” This gathering is not just about clothes and nourishment; it’s about something far more profound. It’s about sharing the love that resides in our hearts and being the extension of the overwhelming love, we have received from countless people.”

The main activities of the event were the clothes fair, Relief distribution, and the nourishment gala.

The clothes fair witnessed the distribution of clothes that were donated by Christians from all over Nigeria.

During the event, the IDPs were able to choose the clothes that suited their preferences and needs.

The clothes fair was a success, as the NGO and it’s volunteers were able to distribute over10,000 pieces of clothing to the IDPs.

The relief material distribution exercise had over two thousand adults lining up to receive some maize and rice sponsored by the NGO friends from Europe, (VOM).

The nourishment gala was a feast of delicious food prepared by volunteers and sponsored by generous individuals.

The nourishment gala was a joyous occasion, as the IDPs and the volunteers enjoyed the food and the fellowship.

“The nourishment gala featured a funfair with music, games, and gifts for the children.

Ntino said the gala nourishment was was their own of having the Christmas season on a good note and giving help to the IDPs children to cope with the trauma of displacement from their community to where they are now taking refuge.

The event was rounded up with a closing remark from the chairperson of the event who thanked everyone for their participation and cooperation.

The chairperson also encouraged everyone to continue to support the IDPs and to spread the message of love and kindness to the world.

“The event was a remarkable success, as we were able to achieve our objectives and make a positive difference in the lives of the IDPs. We received positive feedback from the IDPs, who expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the event.”

He expressed gratitude to all their sponsors who made this event possible, adding that Without their support, they could not have been able to organize such a meaningful and impactful event.

“We hope that this event will serve as a testimony of the good work that we have done” He stressed

Court orders seizure, sale of CBN property over N12.2 million judgment debt

A Plateau State Hight Court sitting in Jos the state capital has ordered a seizure of a property belonging to the Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN).

The writ attachment (seizure) was due to a suit between John Eche Okpe, Esq and the CBN, and it was ordered by Honourable Justice N.D. Shaseet, and seizure notice was made available to newsmen yesterday in Jos the Plateau State capital.

According to the seizure notice signed by the registrar, the property seized is an Innoson IVM Double Cabin vehicle with the regisrtation number KUJ696DD and chasis number LTA12H2P4P9103551.

John Eche Okpe Esq. who is a Legal Practitioner in Jos, had In the said case with the number PLD/J397/m/2023, obtained judgment against the Federal Government of Nigeria and some of its agencies and sought to as well as enforced the judgment via garnishee proceedings against the CBN.

The garnishee order nisi is to the tune of N10 million as made absolute by His Lordship, Honourable Justice N.D. Shaseet of the Plateau State High Court of Justice on the 1st November, 2023.

But since the making of the order absolute, the Central Bank of Nigeria has refused to comply with the order, thereby necessitating the property seizure.

Though the total amount to which the writ has been issued is now N12,206,900, including the legal fees and expenses, and the property will be sold at the end of five days, begin from 22 December, 2023.

“Take notice, that a writ has been issued for the attachment and sale of property in execution of the judgement/order obtained against you in this section/matter and the amount for which it has been issued is stated.

“And take notice that your property is hereby attached and you are prohibited from selling the same or any right title, or interest therein. If you pay to the bailiff the total amount to the levied, as stated, within an hour after the service of this notice, you will incur no further fees or expenses.

“Thereafter, you may be liable to pay to the Sheriff a fee of twenty kobo dally for keeping possession of the property, and also the responsible expenses, if any of feeding animals, until the amount to levied, together with the amount of such fees and expenses is paid or the property is sold.

“If at any time before the sale of the property you pay to the Registrar or Bailiff (a) the amount to levied and (b) the fee and expenses, if any, incurred after attachment, this execution will be sold and any amount that remains unpaid, together with costs of sale will be deducted from the proceeds and the balance, if any, will he paid to you.

“Your property will not be sold until after day end of five days next following the day on which they were/it was attached,” the notice partly read.

It would be recalled that the judge also last week issued a warrant of arrest against the state Controller of the Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN), Mr. Jonah Akama over disobedience to court order in the same suit.

The arrest warrant issued to newsmen in Jos and signed by Honourable Justice N.D. Shaseet read that any police officer who come across Makama should arrest him.

The said arrest warrant followed Akama’s failure to appear before the court over the case with John Eche Okpe, Esq.

Counsel to CBN, A. A. Adewole refused to react or comment on the issue when contacted.

Vice Chancellor, Karl Kumm University Vom, Professor Nanven Audu Gambo, at the weekend said the infrastructure development implemented by the outgoing Vice Chancellor of Bingham university Professor William Barnabas Qurix has made the institution to compete favourable with any first Generation University in Nigeria.

Speaking at a dinner in honour of the outgoing Vice Chancellor of Bingham university Professor William Barnabas Qurix , in Jos at the weekend which was organized by the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences of the university , Professor Gambo stated that Bingham University is now one of the most- sought after Universities in the country.

He further said that Bingham university has distinguished itself under the watch of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor William Barnabas Qurix .
In his words ” Bingham in the past few years has been competing favourably with first-generation universities, making it attractive to admission seekers .”

” Since he came onboard as Vice Chancellor of Bingham University ,Prof Barnabas Qurix has remained focused on the reasons the Institution was established .”

Gambo lauded Prof Qurix for his steadfastness in taking the institution to higher heights .

Also in his speech ,the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos Prof Tanko Ishaya described Prof Qurix’s six -year rule as a monumental advancement for the institution.

He noted that the VC would be leaving the institution far better than he met it, especially in the areas of infrastructure, welfare, discipline, integrity, transparency and accountability.

Speaking earlier Prof Musa Dankyau the Provost, College of Medicine & Allied Health Sciences said the outgoing Vice Chancellor would leave behind several legacies .

He added that Bingham University was granted full accreditation status for Medicine & Surgery programme back-to- back by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN)under the tenure of the outgoing Vice Chancellor .

He said the Gains of the past 6 years under the stewardship of Prof William Barnabas Qurix are enormous .

According to him ,the outgoing Vice Chancellor Constructed a female hostel as well as Purchase and renovated two off-campus hostels at Ndagi Faruk and Jenta Apata .

“Prof Qurix Constructed 4 classrooms of 100-150 capacity .,he also Constructed and academic block (Prof. Felix Anjorin Block) as well as restructuring of accommodation into academic staff offices “
.
He also said the Vice Chancellor reconstructed the Provost office block as well as Constructed additional offices .

The Provost of the Medical school of the institution added that Prof Qurix also constructed the Emergency Paediatrics Unit at Teaching Hospital as well as the Construction of a student hostel in Kagoro for rural posting of medical students.

He added that Prof Qurix also Constructed Toilet block at the Hospital Chapel, as well as an incinerator and also Purchase and installated several teaching and laboratory equipments

Prof Qurix who spoke at the occasion assessed his six year tenure with a sense of fulfillment, adding that he was happy that he was leaving the citadel of learning better than he met it.

“I am highly fulfilled and happy for this honourary celebration organised by the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences of the university .

The VC who also thanked everyone who contributed to the success of his administration and disclosed that after leaving office, he would continue to contribute his quarter to the sustained grow and development of the University.

Member Representing Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam Federal Constituency of Plateau State Rt. Hon. Yusuf Gagdi has distributed assorted items worth over N100 million to his constituents for the Christmas celebrations.

Gagdi, who is the House Committee Chairman on the Navy, at the weekend said while distributing the assorted items,said that Christmas is a season for love and sharing, particularly with the less privileged.

The former deputy speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly told the beneficiaries and spectators that he has a covenant with God to dedicate himself to the service of humanity.

He said he would not stop putting smiles on the faces of his constituents, adding that it’s a personal instinct to better the lives of people across ethnic and religious lines.

“Today, we have distributed 3,600 bags of rice, 30 cows, vegetable oil, and fabrics to various groups across the three local governments that make up this constituency.

“We have also given over 2,000 youths, women, and the elderly ₦20,000 each to enable them to celebrate Christmas.

“In the history of my political sojourn, right from the State House of Assembly and even before then, my life has always been impacted by touching the lives of the people, particularly my people.

“From 2011 till date, no festive period passes without me celebrating with my constituents, either Christmas or Sallah,’’ he said.

Saturday Independent reports that apart from the Christmas gifts, Gagdi, through his foundation, empowered youths, women and elders with different materials.

Some of the materials distributed included 200 bundles of zinc to some flood victims in Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency and 50 sewing and grinding machines to women.

The lawmaker also distributed 20 water pump machines to youths for irrigation farming.

Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, the Plateau All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, lauded Gagdi for impacting lives.

Yilwatda, who witnessed the distribution, said he was impressed with Gagdi’s contribution to his constituents and democracy.

According to him, the gesture is to go into developing the people of the state.

Mrs Nengak Gofwen, a beneficiary from Pankshin Local Government, thanked Gagdi for his kindness to the people.

Gofwen prayed to God to protect Gagdi and grant him his heart’s desire to keep assisting the less fortunate members of society.

2023 MAIN PILGRIMAGE EXERCISE TO ROME AND GREECE : NCPC DELEGATION INSPECTS HOLY SITES AND HOTELS IN ATHENS

The delegation of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission and the States Pilgrimage Leaders on Friday, 22nd December, 2023 have inspected some of the hotels in Athens, Greece preparatory for the forthcoming Main Pilgrimage exercise slated for early next year.

The Executive Secretary Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev Dr Yakubu Pam led the inspection team made up of state pilgrimage leaders and managers.
On 21st December , the team inspected holy sites in Corinth and Athens where Apostle Paul had his second Missionary journey.

The team expressed satisfaction with the facilities at the hotels inspected and urged the management to maintain and improve on the standard.

The NCPC boss during the inspection tour,averred that the Commission would continue to ensure that the welfare of the Nigerian pilgrims is not compromised.

He explained that the Commission and the State Pilgrimage Leaders had resolved to make Rome and Greece the next pilgrimage destination for the 2023 Main Pilgrimage exercise which would come up early next year, hence the pre -visit tour of the holy sites and hotels in the two countries.


The NCPC delegation and the states Pilgrimage Leaders commenced a pre -visit tour of Holy sites and hotels in Rome and Greece on 16th through 23 December, 2023.
The team had earlier inspected holy sites and hotels in Rome before carrying out inspections in Athens.

At the end of the Pre- Visit tour in Greece , the NCPC boss enjoined the States Pilgrimage Leaders and Managers to go home and propagate the good news of Pilgrimage and ensure they commence the Pilgrimage process in their various states in good time.

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barrister Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang has charged Plateau Youths to be vigilant during this Year’s yuletide season.

Mutfwang made this call on Friday at Langfield Leasure Park, Little Rayfield Venue of the Hangout with Plateau Youths while.praying that the Christmas Celebration be done peacefully .

Mutfwang said that “we can not do so except the youths are very Vigilant, because you are the defenders of the community, you are the people that determine what happens in every community. When there is trouble you put together yourselves and advise the elders on what to do”.

Mutfwang commended the character of Plateau Youths who according to him “…are not lazy, the youths of Plateau are not drug addicts, the youths of Plateau are productive, they are intelligent, they are hardworking and they are contributing daily to the peace and progress of Plateau.”.

He affirmed that in 2024, the Youths will see tangible engagements from his administration.

He announced that on the 1st January 2024, there will be a Mega Musical Festival in Jos and Jos will receive visitors, adding that businesses in Jos will benefit.

Governor Mutfwang also stated that plans are on the way to ensure that youths who are in school are motivated and activities in vocational schools increase as part of efforts to ensure that Plateau youths are gainfully employed.

The Governor was accompanied by the Honorable Commissioner for Youths and Sports Lawandi Datti, the Chief Medical Director of the Plateau State Specialist Hospital, Prof Chris Yilgwan and many others. Go Home And Preach The Good News Of Pilgrimage – Executive Secretary NCPC Tells Pilgrimage Leaders In Athens.

The Executive Secretary Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev Dr Yakubu Pam has enjoined the States Pilgrimage Leaders and Managers to go home and preach the good news of Pilgrimage in their various states .


The NCPC boss disclosed this in Athens, Greece on Thursday, 21st December, 2023 during a strategic meeting with the states Pilgrimage Leaders at the end of their Pre- Visit tour of Rome and Greece.


He explained that the choice of Rome and Greece for the 2023 Main Pilgrimage exercise was a collective decision of the Conference of States which comprises all the states chairmen and Secretaries of the States Christian Pilgrims Welfare Boards.


He urged them to abide by the decision reached by the Conference of States to ensure that the Rome and Greece Pilgrimage exercise would be successfully actualized.


He further affirmed that the decision of the Conference of States was due to the war that broke out on 7th October, 2023 between Israel and Hamas group.


The NCPC helmsman admonished them to implement the resolutions of the Conference of States, especially with regard to the outcome of the pre -visit tour of Rome and Greece.


He also advised them to go back home and drive the Pilgrimage process in their respective states by kick starting the sensitization of christians in ernest in their states .


He equally urged them to ensure they do the needful on time with their states chief executives.


In the words of the NCPC boss,” what we have seen here, we will try our best to implement it”.

He added, ” we are the one to build the history of this place and make it strong”.


Earlier, the Chairman of Conference of states Pilgrimage Leaders, Rev Isaiah Magaji commended the NCPC team led by the Executive Secretary for putting together the 2023 Pre-visit tour of Holy sites and hotels in Rome and Greece.


Rev Magaji called on his colleagues to go back home and reciprocate the gestures of NCPC by advancing the cause of Christian pilgrimage in their various states and
ensure their states key into the forthcoming Rome and Greece Main Pilgrimage exercise.


Most of the states Pilgrimage Leaders on their part proffer solutions for a better Pilgrimage outing and overwhelmingly endorsed the 2023 Main Pilgrimage exercise in Rome and Greece by early next year.

The Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, NCPC Rev Dr Yakubu Pam and the delegation of states Pilgrimage Leaders and Managers arrived Athens, Greece from Rome on Wednesday, 20th December, 2023 on a pre-visit tour of the holy sites and inspection of hotels in the ancient city of Greece.

The delegation landed at Athens International airport at 6:20 pm local time and was received by the ground handlers.

The delegation was in Rome from 16th to 20th December 2023 where they visited some of the important holy sites and relics in Rome as well as inspection of hotels.

The delegation will be in Greece from 20th to 23rd December which would afford them the opportunity to visit some some of the designated holy sites and hotels in preparation for the 2023 Main Pilgrimage exercise to Rome and Greece, scheduled for early next year.

While in Greece, the delegation would visit holy sites in Corinth, Athens, among other places of interest .

The Executive Secretary of NCPC, Rev Dr Yakubu Pam in an address said he would have a strategic meeting with the states Pilgrimage leaders in Athens to review the impact of the pre -visit so far and brainstorm on critical issues and proffer ways that would make the forthcoming Main Pilgrimage exercise in Rome and Greece successful and hitch free.

were at the Vatican city for the Wednesday Papal audience with Pope Francis at the St Paul ‘s sixth hall in Vatican city.


The team was led to the Papal audience by the Executive Secretary of NCPC, Rev Dr Yakubu Pam.


The Nigerian delegation joined thousands of christians from all walks of life to observe the Wednesday Papal audience which the Commission considers as a critical and integral aspect of its pilgrimage content in Rome and Vatican .

Pope Francis in his message specially recognized the Nigerian pilgrims and prayed God to grant them the intentions of their hearts.


The Pontiff also wished the Nigerian delegation a merry Christmas celebration, stating that Christmas should be celebrated with “simplicity, love and gratitude.


“Every Nigerian Pilgrim in Rome looks forward to attending the Papal audience just like every other Pilgrim from different countries.”


It would be recalled that the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission has always ensured that Nigerian pilgrims are given the privilege to have audience with the Pope during Pilgrimage.
