Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has unveiled the Plateau State e-Governance Platform, aimed at fostering transparent, efficient, and accountable governance.
In a message to inaugurate the platform today, April 29th, 2024, Governor Mutfwang emphasized its role in promoting citizen-government interaction, courtesy of a donation from Mr. Hephzibah Integrated Technologies Ltd.
The platform, accessible via the toll-free line (08000005555) and http://egov.plateaustate.gov.ng/, allows citizens to provide feedback, request services, and engage with government agencies, thereby contributing to the administration’s effectiveness.
Governor Mutfwang encouraged the public to utilize the platform to engage meaningfully with the government and to offer information, opinions on policies, and inquiries on service offerings from MDAs, while receiving timely feedback.
Enumerating the benefits of the platform, Governor Mutfwang highlighted increased efficiency, convenience, transparency, accountability, improved communication, engagement, and cost-saving for Plateau citizens.
Operated under the Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA), led by Director General Mr. Datong Dominic Gwamnan, the platform is a critical tool for enhancing efficiency, transparency, and accessibility to government services.
The North Central All Progressive Congress (APC) Forum has asked state chairmen of the party from the North Central region to dissociate themselves from the recent vote of confidence passed on the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Ganduje.
Speaking with newsmen yesterday in Jos the Plateau State capital, the forum’s Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, said the vote of confidence which the State Chairmen of the party passed on Ganduje last Tuesday is not in the interest of the North Central region or the party in general.
The Chairman said the North Central APC Forum along with various leaders and chieftains of the APC from the region have been intensifying push for the zoning of the National Chairmanship position of the party to the region, because that position is well deserved by the region owing to its contribution to the progress of the party and its victory in 2023 elections.
Zazzaga who was also a member of the Presidential Campaign Council in the last election pointed out that apart from the strong contribution of the North Central to the development and sustenance of the APC over the years, as well as the tremendous support it gave to the emergence of President Bola Tinubu as the president, the region has also delivered five governors for the APC out of the six states in the North Central region.
He said apart from Plateau State which is of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of which they are still working hard to return it back to APC, Kwara, Niger, Benue, Kogi and Nassarawa State is of the APC, and therefore the North Central region has made a strong statement on in its achievement for the party and therefore deserves the National Chairmanship position of the party.
“So, it is therefore unreasonable that while we are pushing for the National Chairmanship position of the party to be zoned to the North Central in view of our efforts for the progress of the APC and its victories at elections, the party state chairmen from our region would be part of any arrangement or decision to pass a vote of confidence on the embattled National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
“We are not meddling in the of Ganduje, as a result of his suspension from the party by his ward in Kano and the court injunctions which followed thereafter. And we are also not against Ganduje as person. Our concern is the North Central region. After the 2023 election, we were hoping to get the National Chairmanship position, but it was given to Ganduje who is from the North West. And since then, we have never relented in pushing for that position.
“All we are after is the rights and privileges of the North Central region, and the National Chairmanship position remains is one of our prominent focus for our efforts.
“So, we are earnestly calling on all the state party chairmen from the region to immediately distance themselves from that vote of confidence passed on Ganduje. Otherwise, we will commence mass protest against them in all the North Central states,” he said.
Zazzaga called on all the party chieftains, members as well as the governors from the North Central, who are of the APC to support their mission of clinching the National Chairmanship position.
He also called on them to prevail on the state chairmen of the party from the region to distance themselves from any move that will truncate their mission or in the interest of the region.
The General Manager of Mighty Jets FC of Jos, Ferdinand Mbum has reeled out some of his achievements at the club since his assumption of office almost one year ago.
The Club, renowned for its rich history as one of the few in the early days of Nigerian football to place the country on the world map since its inception in 1970, it has steadily stamped its authority in the circles of modern football around the country.
According to him,Talent development has been at the core of everything we’re doing right now and the results are already manifesting, so we’re not perturbed nor shaken at all”,
Mr. Ferdinand said “Four of our youngsters have currently been invited to the Golden Eaglets team as a result of their performances in what is just their first season”, he said.
Mr. Mbum maintained that their mandate is for the Club to be self-sufficient and prove that the status quo can change by all means legitimately possible.
Determined to make clear his arguments, he opined that several scouts have been sounded from his first day in office, “Some of whom have documented a good number of our players and are monitoring their development with data-driven tools which I cannot reveal to you.”
Accordingly, those at the top echelon of football activities within the Club have worked out ñwith a roadmap and clear cut instructions about the need to prioritize game time for young prospects, hence the reason for their involvement in first team duties with a hybrid of a number of experienced faces to strike a balance in that regard.
For the Club’s chief, the young footballers have to be trusted, “Talent may be universal but opportunity is not, we have to believe them enough and hand them the opportunities they need to prove themselves” he added.
Commenting on his recent foreign trip to England, he revealed that it was solely in the interest of the Club as he had the opportunity to peach the idea of exporting players to clubs that partnerships have not been struck with them at the initial stage such as Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and Leganese in Spain, which was added to the list of clubs that Mighty Jets Int’l FC hopes to do a lot with in Spain.
All these he said were part of his agenda during the International Sports Convention held in the United Kingdom.
According to him “Our journey overseas was not for a tea party by any means as we also held a number of strategic business meetings and beneficial networking.
“Already two of our players will travel for trials in top Spanish clubs in addition to other mentioned breakthroughs.”
He applauded the Governor of the state, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for the free hand granted the management of the club to operate without hindrance.
He reiterated that there is a close collaboration between the club’s Sporting Director and that of the state as they look forward to get the very best result moving forward.
While describing allegations of match-fixing against the club’s management as “baseless and unfounded”, he said the club will most likely initiate legal action against known persons who mischievously intend to peddle a narrative they know to be untrue.

You are entrusted with public trust, and ensuring competency is crucial for accountability and efficient service delivery,” stated Governor Mutfwang.
He continued, “I envision our Accountants in the Accountant General’s Office standing shoulder to shoulder with their counterparts in Lagos and global financial institutions like the World Bank. An accomplished accountant transcends mere bookkeeping; they possess multidisciplinary skills encompassing economics, sociology, political science, and historical foresight to forecast future economic trends.”
Barr. Rauta Dakok, Head of Civil Service, highlighted the Governor’s commitment to manpower development and urged civil servants to reciprocate by optimizing government services.

Orphans leaving orphanages in Plateau State for integration into the larger society have been cautioned against drug abuse and general anti-social vices.
The caution which was given yesterday at the launching of an initiative by Kingdom Kids Klub tagged ‘Stand Out Aging Out Africa (AOA) Mentoring Network’ also featured the unveiling and allocations of mentors to each of the orphans.
The orphans who are over 50 from across seven orphanages in the state will be guided along attitudinal and career path by the mentors as the transit from the orphanages into the larger society.
Speaking at the event, the Global Coordinator for Kingdom Kids Klub, Sandra Chikan, said the concept on the programme as a result of a research they have done and found that some of the children or teenagers stay longer than necessary at the orphanage homes which is not supposed to be so.
She said that is why they therefore have the initiative where orphans of particular ages can transit from the orphanages into the larger society, and in so doing, the have arranged for accomplished people in life to volunteer as mentors to those orphans so that they can guide them accordingly.
“From the researches we have done, many of those children in orphanage homes have been there for there from above five years and up to 11 years, and which is not supposed to be so .
“But as the children grow and reach 18 years and above, and due to leave the orphanages, where do they go to and what happens to them? That is why we set up ‘Stand Out’ initiative so that they can find men or women who are already accomplished in life and going something tangible so that they can help mentor and train the children and build relationships.
“So that when the children leave then homes, they will be able to stand on their own, have something doing for themselves, contribute to the society and nation building
“Being in an orphanage alone is a disadvantage because there many things you would not know or have access to, but with these available mentors who will be on ground for them, we are sure that these children will be well tutored and guided, and they will not fall into bad gangs upon leaving the homes.
Some mentors with the mentees
“Today we have 50 mentors and mentees who are going to sign what we call a friendship pact, which means they have committed to the relationship and to build them up. The three levels of the initiative is that first we step in, set up one another with the relationship and then we give the children the opportunity to stand out” she said.
Chikan said the programme is for one year for starters, and that after that they will review it for onward continuation, adding that the mentees were carefully chosen, screened and that they are part of their wide range networks, their partners and people in the society.
She called on other volunteers from different profession and societal setting to support the initiative and be part of it so that it can continue and give the children a better future, and better society by extension.
In her remarks, the Programme Manager of Kingdom Kids Klub, Sharon Osondu, said the programme is necessary because some of the kids from 15 years and above who should be ageing from the orphanages are always afraid of leaving because the orphanage provide them a kind of safe haven.
But the programme will boost the confidence of the orphans and encourage them to go to the society, knowing that there is hope for them and things they can do
She called on the mentors and the mentees to open up to each other so that they can understand each order and then have a beneficial relationship.

The attention of the Management of Plateau State University, Bokkos (PLASU), has been drawn to a press release by a political party and a letter purported to be written by the National Universities Commission (NUC) to the Visitor to the University and Executive Governor of Plateau State, which is unfortunately circulating on social media.
This action is capable of causing anxiety and shaking the confidence of students, staff, parents and prospective students; therefore, Management wishes to make the following clarifications:
1.That PLASU is a citadel of knowledge and thelegacy of Plateau people should not be dragged into any political contestation, especially those that have no bearing on the University’s academic activities. 2.That since the suspension of industrial action by Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), PLASU Branch, following engagement with the Government which made available funds to settle the demands of the Union, the revised Academic Calander has been running smoothly, with lectures for the semester concluded and examinations commencing on the 15thof April, 2024. 3.That admissions have since been concluded into the existing and newprogrammes approved by the NUC. 4.That admissions have similarly been concluded into thePostgraduate programmes of the University. 5.That PLASU has grown steadily with the current student population approaching 10,000 and a steady expansion of Staff strength which is indicative of a bright future for the University. 6.That PLASU has not sacked any Staff nor has it received directivefrom any quarters to sack any Staff. On the contrary, the newly employed Staff are servicing the existing and new programmes of the University. 7.That Management is deeply concerned by the false impression put out in the public domain to the effect that Staff members recruited to service new programmes have been laid off. This is both false and misleading. 8.That Management is aware of the need for additional Staff to meet the expansion in academic programmes and intends to take it up with the proprietor for approval to recruit more Staff. 9.That consequent upon the foregoing, Management wishes to assure our students, parents, staff, stakeholders, potential students and the general public that there are no concerns in the relationship between the National Universities Commission (NUC) and Plateau State University, Bokkos (PLASU) as it is academic and professional, therefore fears of the withdrawal of the University’s operating license as insinuated by some groups have no basis.
