Former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Deputy Director, Chief Jonathan Sunday Akuns has declared Interest to Contest the 2023 governorship race in Plateau State.
. Chief Akuns in an interview with newsmen said he has what it takes to turn around the economic fortunes of the people of plateau state within a short period of time if he is voted governor of the state .
Chief Akuns a one time Special Adviser to Senator Joshua Dariye former Governor of Plateau State between 2003-2005, said he has been on the Plateau political space at the grassroots for some time now and as a result, understands the unique nature of the state problems and how to tackle it for the benefit of all and sundry on the Plateau.
Chief Akun added that he is out to tackle the insecurity challenges of the state, and as well promise to create incentive frameworks which would deliver happiness to the people of the state.
According to him, creating such incentive framework , would supress the desire for violence among the people on the Plateau since they will be meaningfully engaged, busy, happy and prosperous to a level that they will not want to involve themselves in any form of violence.
On what sort of incentive framework would he create, he explained that he would not let it out yet as some aspirants’ are fond of copying peoples manifestoes, especially from experts/technocrats like them, and then make it look as if it is originally their concept.
He however said he would reveal all his plans accordingly and in due time, adding that he and his team are working round the clock to enter the contest with burning desire to advance the state to an enviable height because it has all it takes to be a very prosperous state in the country.
Akuns further noted that the state is blessed with natural and beautiful sites and fantastic weather, but that hunger and poverty is not making it possible for the full exploitation of all the tourism and social potentials which abounds on the Plateau.
